Design Development

Design is done using a feasibility-rules-technology based approach.  Area planned for a residence, water source and waste water disposal are assessed with increasing detail, starting with a site walk and first impression.  Following that, more detailed analysis are completed.

Soils Study:  3 or more test pits are dug to assess seasonal high ground water, soil texture, depth to ledge. 2 or more percolation tests are done to assess rate of travel of water through soils horizons.

Topographical survey: Survey of existing ground elevations, location of all existing buildings, roadways, drainage structures, pipe lines (where known), property lines, utility lines.  Horizontal and vertical locations are important.  The topo survey is the basis of design for the new septic system, and is sometimes referred to as “existing ground” , “old ground”, or “existing conditions”.

Hogg Hill Design LLC utilizes state of the art total station compatitble with the latest CAD drafting software enabling efficient conversion of field data into topography needed as the design basis for the new system.  Design and drawings are done on the computer and submitted electronically to the State for approval and issue of the permit for construction.
